Your child's learning journey

We are using the software package Famly.

Famly is a fully encrypted, GDPR-compliant app that allows you and your child's setting to access important information.

Famly does everything we need, we can capture your child's learning journey and how they are accessing the curriculum. As well as receiving observations of your child, there is also a newsfeed and chat function, where we can send you messages and pictures and you can can do the same for us. It is also a register, you can let us know that your child is sick or absent for another reason, you can view accident and incident forms. You can tell us when you're on holiday, you can view and pay invoices, give permissions, read documents, edit personal details and contacts and access calendar dates.

The app is available on apple and android as well as desktop.

Famly Help

The News feed

When you log in to the app, the first page you land on is your News feed. Here you will see:

  • Status updates about your child, during their session
  • Posts from your child's setting to all parents, or groups of parents, such as all the parents in your child's room,
  • Photos and observations about your child, that only you can see.
  • Receive your invoice (again, only you can see this)

The News feed is essentially your child's setting's virtual notice board, so they can choose to use it in their own way.

Interacting with posts

You can 'like' the post with the heart icon, or 'comment' with text and photos.

Receiving a report of an accident or incident involving your child

As a parent or carer, receiving a report of an accident or incident involving your child can be very concerning, so Famly aims to make these reports as clear and detailed as possible. Knowing exactly what happened and how, can take away some of the anxiety you may feel.

When a member of staff logs an accident or incident involving your child, you will receive a notification.

Accident or incident reports

On opening the report, you will be able to see

  • The nature of the incident or accident (what happened)
  • The location it took place (where in the setting)
  • Whether any first aid was necessary and by whom it was administered
  • Who else was present when the accident or incident happened
  • Any other relevant details
  • A body map with a dot to show the exact location of any injury ( on accident forms only)

You are required to click on 'Acknowledge Accident/Incident' to let the nursery know that you have seen it. These reports will be stored under the Reports tab of your child's profile.

The Reports tab on your child's profile

The Reports tab of your child's profile is where you can view all of their past accident or incident reports, starting with the most recent first.

Report your child's absence

See your child's daily activity in activity feed

Add or edit your child's information in about your child

The app enables the setting to store information about the children in order to provide the best possible care. They may ask you as a parent to help populate this information.

Permissions

Your child's setting will ask your permission for various things through the app.

Add Contacts to your child's profile

If you are assigned a Parent login, you can add additional contacts to your child's profile, assign who can pick up your child, and send logins to invite those contacts to the app.

The Journey tab in your child's profile

This enables you to access your child's learning Journey and where you can also write an observation.

Send a message to your child's setting

You can send messages directly to your child's setting through the app. This can either be a private message to the management in the Pre-School, or to all the staff in the Pre-School.

View your invoicing and account history

If you have been assigned as a Bill Payer or an Invoice Recipient, you will have access to the Balance tab when you log in to the app.
